Hooray! We need some apps! Thanks to donors, we're getting some new technology and we want to put it to the best possible uses.
My students are elementary students with special needs.
Most spend a majority of the school day with grade level peers in their classrooms and receive specialized instruction in our resource room for part of their school day. Their learning challenges include specific learning disabilities, autism, social/behavioral skills deficits, and impairments due to birth defects or health issues. Several have significant fine motor skills deficits, poor articulation, and other communication challenges. Most of their homes are not environments rich in literature or technology. They struggle to acquire skills needed to be successful at school and in life.
My Project
The iTunes gift cards requested for this project will be used to purchase apps for our new technology items including three iPad2s. My students need tools to minimize the impact of their unique learning challenges.
When you have a lot to say, but your articulation is unintelligible and your writing is unreadable, you have no voice. That's frustrating. Yes, there's an app for that! And apps to learn and enhance almost any skill in some pretty entertaining ways. Along with apps, we need some music and books for our iPads and iPods.
Technology for today's students is a vital tool.
Yes, it's fun, but it is not a toy. Serious learning is our desired and attainable outcome. The portability and versatility of our new technology provides flexibility as I implement individualized learning opportunities for each student both in the resource room and their grade level classrooms.
