My classroom is full of excitable, engaged, and curious learners. I will be entering my ninth year teaching in my district, but only my second as a third grade classroom teacher. Prior to teaching in a classroom, I taught special education and loved it but was ready for a change. Now that I have learned so much in my first year as a third grade teacher, I am ready to up the ante and revamp my ELA class to better meet the needs of all of my learners. I’m looking forward to doing some reading over the summer in order to plan for better and more engaging instruction.
My Project
My students will not use these materials directly, but rather, will have a stronger teacher of reading and writing! Language Arts is my favorite subject to teach. Literacy skills are so important for students to learn and grasp, especially by third grade. I want to continue to grow as a teacher to make teaching reading and writing interesting in order to spark a love of literacy in my students.
These materials will provide many new ideas to amp up my teaching, to more often include technology in my curriculum, and to more effectively teach students in small groups.
Reading and writing instruction will be improved through the use of these professional development books, which will in turn increase student literacy skills.
