My second grade students are part of a Title I building with a diverse population. We come from all walks of life and are working hard to learn about the world around us.
I have an energetic pack of fifth grade learners who are always eager for new information and experiences.
My students and I are all about hands-on learning. We use a class set of iPads during independent learning times as well as during whole group experiences. Students make use of print resources and hands-on materials across all areas of study. We love having easy access to technology, printed resources, and hands-on experiences.
Imagine students, sitting in small groups of five or six, earnestly and eagerly holding a discussion. The discussions are lively and exciting, revolving around a book that they are all reading and enjoying!
Book clubs are 'grown-up' and encourage students to form opinions about what they read, and express and support these opinions with peers. This is just plain fun but also helps make the abstract process of reading more concrete.
I am working to start book clubs in my class. We are in need of multiple copies of several titles to get this going. The books in this project will be used in my classroom for book clubs.
