My students are on the move in our classroom learning in groups, individually, and as a class.
They do not sit in one spot for too long and rarely sit at their desks. They are actively learning.
My students love school! They enter the classroom excited every day to see what the schedule is and what their learning targets will be. I have many who face challenges at home and many who are struggling academically. However, they do not let these challenges defeat them. The perseverance residing in each one of them inspires me every day and makes me strive to give 200 percent, all day, every day.
My Project
Everyday during recess my students play basketball using a plastic bucket to shoot their rubber play balls into. Having a portable basketball hoop would allow them to truly practice shooting a basketball and feeling successful when they get the ball in the hoop.
Creating teamwork and cooperation is a daily goal for my students.
I watch them taking turns as each waits for their turn to try to get their play ball in the basket. I hear how they cheer each other on when one of them successfully gets their play ball in the basket. Having their own portable basketball hoop would only cultivate this teamwork and cooperation that I witness each day.
Being able to practice basketball skills and work on their gross motor skills is a way for them to keep healthy and be more focused inside the classroom. Who knows, I may have the next Steph Curry in my class and would love for you to support my project to help my students shoot hoops for health everyday!
