This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our College Preparatory environment is wrapped around a Social Justice theme that is integrated into the rigorous curriculum and instruction experience. Our school also requires that the students play two high school sports each in preparation our middle school students are learning to play basketball.
My school is located within a community that has many daily challenges.
There is high rate of crime and poverty. There are not many recreational experiences available for our students.
Our students need programs that provide a challenging and positive experience. Our students athletes are special because they are excited about their future even though statistics show and others see their futures as bleak. They enjoy playing ball and look forward to coming to practice. I look forward to seeing their energy, sportsmanship, and skill on the court!
A donation to this project will mean a lot to the student athletes we are a pre k -12 school and the middle school students get hand me downs from the high school teams. We are looking to invest in uniforms that will boost their self image on and off the court.
My Project
Donations for this project will give the middle school students a chance to have their own new uniforms instead of hand me downs from the high school team. These uniforms will boost self esteem and improve their image on and off the court. We will also brand them with the school name allowing them to show school pride. Studies show when you look good, you feel good which help you will perform better also. As a staff we are working on expanding middle school sports and activities so that we can offer a safe place for our middle school students to spend time together after school as well as contributing to the school community.
