Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students in my classroom come from low-income homes. Over 90% of my students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. There are many challenges that plague my students every day. Even though they face daily challenges within their homes and their communities, the students show so much resilience and come to school and are eager to excel. They show great perseverance daily and enjoy using technology in the classroom. My hope is that each student will excel and give back to their community one day.

My Project

Our previous inside basketball hoops have deteriorated over the years. This year we will be competing against other schools in our district and we are in need of safe indoor basketball hoops for the students to use.

Basketball courts can serve as incredible school assets because they offer opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and team building that contribute to the local health and quality of life for our elementary school students.

With your support, we can have new indoor basketball hoops that our school team can use to practice with after school. In addition, to ensuring equipment for our team it will also help to give the students another recreational activity for indoor recess.
