My 2nd grade classroom is filled with energetic and inquisitive young minds! They are eager to learn about the world around them through outdoor explorations, creative role-play, whole and small group conversations and most importantly, books!
Having a high quality library that is warm and inviting, will not only entice my students to read, but will keep them engaged and wanting to come back for more.
My students will become lifelong readers in a print rich environment that will be welcoming to all learning abilities and styles.
My Project
Studies show that the more contact students have with books, the better readers they become. This can be done through read alouds, book talks and a well stocked classroom library.
Being able to add to my collection of kindergarten books will ensure that I am meeting the reading levels and interests of all students in my 2nd Grade class.
Cam Jansen, Nate the Great and Henry and Mudge will be just a few of the characters they will fall in love with and remember! Having multiple books in a series means that they can continue on the journey with their favorite characters. I will also be able to guide my students to books based on their interests that will ignite a love of reading within them.
Our classroom library should be a place where students want to go to relax and head off into another adventure! Please help me get my students hooked on reading!
