This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from the South Bronx, one of the poorest neighborhoods in New York City. They come to school every morning full of energy and determination. Some students struggle academically and music class is a way to motivate them to succeed in school. My students are talented musicians eager to pick up any instrument they see. They love singing, playing various instruments, and listening to all genres of music. I have seen how music helps them focus inside and outside of the classroom.

My Project

The guitar wall hooks will allow our students to organize their guitars neatly inside of the classroom. Students will be able to place their guitars safely on the hook. This will help in creating a neat and organized space for our instruments.

Our students use the guitars in every class to engage in learning modern and classic songs.

One song the students learned to play on the guitar last year was "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. This year, we will keep learning popular songs chosen by our students.

Our students enjoy being able to play songs they listen to on their instruments. Having a safe place to store the guitars will help preserve the guitar's condition and allow for more participation!
