This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My middle school GATE students are creative, motivated, and always eager to learn. Their unique learning styles require innovated projects and activities that will foster their creativity in a challenging yet fun way.

They enjoy making a connection with issues and events facing our world today.

They are extremely passionate about their work and thrive in cooperative learning activities which allow them to problem solve and think outside the box. My students demonstrate a greater interest in their learning when their imagination is challenged.

My Project

My students will use this novel in conjunction with our core curriculum to read and analyze the tragic New York Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire; which as a result catapulted the reformation of our country's labor laws. They will use this novel to participate in discussions about labor strikes and labor laws. My students will conduct research on The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire and produce an expository essay recounting the events that lead up to this tragic event. My students will create an end-of-the-novel project demonstrating their understanding of the theme of the novel while applying various literary skills. Thank you.
