Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year I have a group of 20 enthusiastic and loving kindergarteners. They love to work in centers and learn hands-on. They love using manipulatives throughout all subjects. These students all come from different backgrounds with different levels of ability and styles of learning.
My students love working hands-on in groups to work collaboratively and learn by doing.
Being an IB and STEAM school, we have several projects throughout the year that require students to research, investigate, plan, and experiment.
I am very excited to continue this educational journey with them.
My Project
Being an IB school we learn through different units of inquiry on a specific theme. Having books that correlate with the specific theme can help my students get a deeper understanding of the unit. My students are always eager to come to the carpet and listen to a new book. Many times I see them return to the library to pick up the books we've read and read them again. These book not only allow the students to dig deeper into what we are learning, but opens their eyes to a wide range of diverse and engaging books. Let's keep this love of books going!
