The students at my school are excited to learn! We have a total of about five hundred sixty students at our school. We are a Title I school, so the majority of students come from an economically disadvantaged background. The students come from an assortment of cultures and backgrounds including a bilingual program at our school.
My students have the potential to become life-long learners through meaningful conversations, engaging books, and exciting projects.
We use lots of hands-on, interactive activities to help our students stay engaged.
3rd, 4th, and 5th graders enter my room searching my classroom library for a book that draws them in. Sometimes it takes awhile to find that perfect book that gets them excited to read. I want to introduce my students to book series so that when they finish a book they fell in love with, they have a book waiting for them with the same characters.
When you're reading a good book, the characters become your friends and it's like losing a friend when the book is over.
When you start a book series, you get to continue with your friends on a new adventure. The books I selected are part of a series that are quality books target to 3rd-5th graders. My students read blurbs from these books and helped me select which books they wanted to ask for donations for.
