Mrs. Clabeaux from Jacksonville FL is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a book nook with 4 giant comfy pillows and that is filled with a variety of different books and book sets that will stimulate their interest in reading!

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go". My students are reminded of this daily and they have set higher goals for themselves go and dream big every day!
My students live in a lower socioeconomic area in Florida.
On most days, they worry about whether their family will have enough food to eat than their education. These children may not have the opportunities that others have but they have the will and confidence to break the vicious cycle and become outstanding members of society. There are no words to describe these special children. All I can say is that they deserve the same opportunity as the next child and I am hoping to be the one to guide them!
As a first year teacher, my classroom library area is almost non-exsistant. I have been to library book sales, thrift stores and other places to find books for my students and have not had much luck. My project involves mostly book sets that I know my students are interested in reading. I have set up our book nook so that it is warm and inviting so that my students have a safe and comfortable place to go and read to get away from the real world for a little while. Reading is the building block of life! If my students become confident in their reading and have a positive experience overall, they will continue to read and in turn continue to learn!
I am hoping that my students have a positive experience with reading and school so that they can gain confidence in themselves and continue onto higher education.
This may seem like a small project or unimportant project but to my students and myself, it is so important for them to become better readers and to gain positive self-confidence to know that through reading and learning they can meet their goals and break apart from the environment that they grew up in.
