Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher of students in grades 6-8. All of my students are diverse learners. They have special needs ranging from mild learning disabilities to social/emotional difficulties. I teach math and science. My kids are from a working class, low-income area. We are a very family-oriented school and have great family involvement.
We can grow in our learning if we just have our needs met.
Any extra materials or technology received by my class offers the students a more enriching education.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting a variety of sweatshirt hoodies for some of my male students. They don't like bulky warm coats and instead prefer to layer their clothes. So they wear a t-shirt under a hoodie under their jacket. Many of my older boys have had growth spurts since last winter season. This is why they are in need of new clothes this year.
Some of the boys simply have limited winter attire and their families have little if not no means to buy their sons new clothes.
So I hope that I am able to secure these items for my students one DonorsChoose.org project at a time.
