Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela.

Every day, my kids walk into my classroom so full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.

They come from various cultures and economic statuses. My kids love to read and write. They just need the "write" tools. I want to give them the resources to read, write, draw, and to be as creative as they can be!

Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best, "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."

My goal as an educator is to teach and provide the resources for my students to reach their given potential, in order for them to change the world.

My Project

My students will be able to listen to read-alouds about influential African Americans and those read alouds will help us to discuss differences and important moments in history.

Books like "I, Too, Am America" will help children travel through history and learn about the struggles and victories of African Americans.

Students will be able to identify with characters from the stories and use those connections to discuss the topic of tolerance and appreciation for other cultures. The global community books will help us gain background knowledge on things that happen in communities around the world on the topics of transportation, schools, homes, clothing, birthdays and foods.
