This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students need durable homework folders that will last the school year.
My students come from low-income families in an urban setting.
School supplies are a financial struggle for our families, especially families with more than one school-age child. Preparing for the upcoming school year can be quite a strain on their budgets.
My students love coming to school, bringing in their work to show what they have finished and sharing their efforts, but transporting these precious papers is a challenge.
My Project
Communication between home and school in the early grades is essential for my students' progress.
Consistent positive communication with parents and the home through graded, completed work returned and calendars, notes, and newsletters foster that essential pathway.
By creating an environment that promotes positive communication, I can assist my students' parents in becoming involved in their children's education and allow them into the excitement of learning that their children already embrace.
Sturdy home-school communication folders to transport their homework to and from school, my students will become more consistent in turning in their work and bringing notes and materials home for parent review.
