I teach third grade in a Title I school that is about 81% free and reduced lunches. We have very diverse students with very different backgrounds. Monday through Thursday, the students take home a folder that contains their homework, notes to parents and any other school information for the family to read. On Fridays, the students take home a different folder that contains information for the parents as well as things for the students to work on over the weekend. We currently use regular two pocket folders. The only issues that we have had is that the folders rip and tear easily and each student probably goes through 4-5 folders a year. It doesn't sound like much, but after replacing 20 students' folders it can get costly. I would like to get the plastic portfolio folders for each of the students so that replacement of the folders would be less likely. I am asking for 100 folders that way I do have extras for lost folders, replacement folders, new students, seperate homework and Friday folders as well as enough for a couple of years. I am also asking for a hanging pocket chart for the folders and student's work. This helps with teaching responsibility as well as saving time and space. The information we send home is important and by making sure the children have a folder that will last, gives us a higher chance of the family/parents actually getting it. I am asking for 100 of the transparent envelopes with string ties and 2 organizer pocket charts. Thank you so much!
