My students need a couch, bean bag chair, rug, side table, clip board, pillows, darkening curtains, and desk organizers for flexible seating & more comfortable classroom setting.
I encourage my students to set big goals that with passion and hard work they can be reachable. Our school's mission is to promote life-long learning through a caring and nurturing environment. It's not just a high school; it's a safe place for my students to understand and better themselves for their future successes.
Our school is an academic alternative high school that prepares students for global citizenship.
We teach and accept students who don't typically fit in on a big campus or have a hard situation at home. We inspire them to attend career classes at a local community college, so they will have the tools to succeed in life. I would like to give them the tools so they can adapt and become knowledgeable of the world they live in. We are a close-knit family and learn how to adapt and overcome obstacles. We encourage our students to follow their dreams and go places that they never thought possible.
My Project
My students have come to me with so many gaps in their education; not to mention their learning disabilities and personal hardships at home. I want my classroom to be a nurturing environment so they can feel comfortable and not pressured to be at the standards of others. They need to learn at their own pace with their own skills.
I would like to create a calming classroom with flexible seating so the students can learn comfortably.
I would like to provide a sofa, bean bag chair, rug, clip boards, lamp, side table, organizational table caddies, and darkening curtains to help my students relax. Our area was affected by Hurricane Harvey and the stress of the natural disaster along with the stress at home just added to more difficulties at school. I believe if the students feel peaceful in the classroom, it will help them absorb knowledge they need to graduate and make a positive difference.
