Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
On top of all of these challenges, my students are SPECIAL---they are all SPECIAL needs students with a range of disabilities from learning disabilities to Down Syndrome to Autism; and even wheelchair bound students.
I want to provide students a space to calm themselves and be successful at school. A calming corner will be a great addition to my classroom!
My Project
I want my classroom to be a warm, welcoming environment! Students should feel at home and be comfortable and cozy. They need to feel safe and secure to be able to perform to the best of their ability.
Seating, a rug and lighting feel homey, and invite students in.
This helps everyone be more relaxed and at ease for the time we spend at school, even on the bad days.
Please help me give my kids these items! I want them to feel important, loved and secure in the classroom space I provide.
