My Students

My Montessori students learn by using hands-on materials in our classroom. They do well when they have concrete materials to manipulate and explore. This type of learning creates an intrinsic motivation necessary to excel and get excited about education.

One of the setbacks of being a small Montessori school is the lack of money available to purchase new materials essential for my students' exploration and learning.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and show great dedication and commitment to our school. We are a small K-8 Montessori charter school with around 200 students, yet we have a lot of heart.

My Project

Part of making my classroom feel inviting is having the furniture to give it a uniform look. Last year was my first year as a classroom teacher, and I have a lot of flimsy, secondhand items in dire need of replacing. This year, I would like to unify the classroom furniture and have sturdy shelves for the library.

My students take pride in the aesthetics and functionality of our classroom and care for it as much as I do.

They get excited over the addition of new furniture or any rearranging that takes place. Our classroom is their home away from home, and they spend several hours learning in this environment. My goal is to give my room a unified look and feel to encourage focus. To achieve this, we need sturdy furniture for our expanding library and an awesome carpet that serves as a learning tool as well.

The carpet features a large, colorful map of the United States and can be used as teaching tool and gathering spot for our class presentations or meetings. The possibilities are endless with this carpet!
