Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from various backgrounds. Some come from shelters, large families or foster care. For many, this will be the first time they are exposed to a school environment. They will have to learn many new routines alongside academics they have never been exposed to. Our classroom has to be a place where they feel comfortable and look forward to coming every day. Some of my students have been exposed to trauma early in there lives therefore affecting there social emotional growth. Our class not only becomes a place of academic learning but a secure place to grow their social emotional experiences.
My Project
Learning doesn’t stop at school it continues at home. A vital part of school success is Home success. A care package that will include crayons, pencils, erasers, dry erasers and books will provide some needed home care. Students will be able to use the same tools we have in school at home. Parents will get the extra support to help their children practice the skills taugh at school. My students need these supplies to help them succeed at home. They will use it everyday at home for practice, homework and play. Supporting Home learning will prepare students for class learning.
