This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students think and work like artists. As the visual art teacher, I get to know every child in the school. My students have art class once a week. Many of my students have Autism and many of my students are English Language Learners. The diversity in our classroom contributes to boundless creativity and amazing artwork. My students are intelligent, persistent, and joyful. My students present their work when we do "gallery walks" within the classroom. And their work decorates the hallways throughout the building.
My Project
My students and I have learned all about the elements of art and design in the first and second quarters. Now, in third and fourth quarter, we are ready to put our knowledge and skills to the test as we push limits and create with materials such as paint, clay, and fiber. Students will use the pencils and erasers to plan their projects and also submit reflections. Then, in fourth quarter, all of our hard work will be shown off in the Seat Pleasant Art Department -- Spring Art Show. Parents, community members, staff, and students will be able to view student work from all grades.
