Dr. Morris from Newark NJ is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need pop bottle science kits, complete with a book and supplies to begin their science explorations at home.

I teach at a four-year inner-city public school in New Jersey that provides students with a two-year, tuition-free college course of study in the liberal arts and sciences following the 9th and 10th grades. Students graduate with a high school diploma and up to 60 college credits and an associate degree from Bard College.
My students love hands-on science projects.
However, due to limited prior exposure to science projects many of my students need guidance and materials to spark ideas for science experiments.
The current Next Generation Science Standards practices call for students to design experiments to test their own scientific questions; however due to a lack of experience and resources many of my students have a hard time coming up with questions on their own. When I was younger, my scientific curiosity was sparked by receiving and using STEM gifts like a microscope, telescope, and chemistry set. I believe that providing the same opportunity for my students will give them the exposure that they need to awaken their own scientific curiosity.
These kits will enable my students to explore science beyond the classroom by allowing them to choose at least 5 out of a possible 79 experiments to complete at home.
After completing each experiment they write a brief blog describing their experience. At the end of the semester, students will expand upon their favorite experiment and present their discoveries at a school-wide science fair.
