Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at in our school district grow up in a small town atmosphere. About three-fourths of the students come from homes of poverty. Many students enter school with few literacy experiences in comparison to their peers who grow up in more affluent areas.

Many of these same students have to overcome experiences of trauma and periods of homelessness at some point in their first years of life.

A donation to a classroom filled with these students can be part of the solution to overcoming their misfortunes and will help foster their potential.

My Project

In my project, I chose a leather couch to compliment the living room environment that I would like to create. In my room, students are asked to push themselves in their greatest area of need-reading.

The majority of the students I work with have struggled with reading for years and are completely frustrated with the idea of reading text with accuracy, for comprehension, and new information.

Students at the middle school level will love to have a comfortable place to sit and work independently or in a small group. This comfortable sitting area will help breakdown some of the barriers that students of this age group display when working on reading or difficult tasks. Thanks for taking the time to consider funding this project!
