My students need a new rug and 4 giant comfy pillows to rest on while curling up with a good book!
This project expired on January 12, 2012.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
School can seem like a scary place for a five year-old. For most of my full-time kindergarten students, my classroom is their first experience away from home and family. I want to make my classroom a comfortable, inviting place to learn and grow, an environment in which they feel safe and supported.
My students are amazing!
I have taught in my community for seven years, and I learn something new from each group of kiddos that comes in. Over 90% of our students qualify for the free and reduced lunch program, which means that they are considered to be living well below the poverty line.
My students are sweet and loving little humans that develop into life-long learners as long as I do my job well.
I want to give my students a love of reading, and a respect for each other. Having this rug and pillows will give them the opportunity to curl up with good books, and be able to sit in a space that is all their own.
Please picture in your mind 30 five year olds all getting to sit in their own space on our new rug. And at other times (five at a time) getting to be so comfortable on a comfy pillow learning to love to read!
Each time a child learns to read in my classroom my heart overflows with joy.
Please help me bring those skills to my classroom.
I also work very hard to teach each child to respect each other's space, as well as teach them to demand respect of their own.
Thank you for considering our classroom!
