This upcoming school year I will have the opportunity to teach about twenty, wonderful students! As in any classroom, each child will bring their own interests and strengths to our little community. Additionally, each child will come to my class wanting to improve in some aspect, whether that be socially, academically, behaviorally or emotionally.
I want to make sure I have the best environment that is conducive to allowing my students to grow in those areas, as well as enhance areas of strength.
I can’t wait to see the growth of my students this next year by meeting each of them exactly where they need it!
My Project
I am hoping to use these materials to help my students gain greater access to their learning. Each of these items serves a separate purpose in my classroom and I can’t wait to see them used!
The post-it chart paper will allow me to use my recent GLAD training easily and effectively.
This is a teaching strategy that focuses on utilizing all content areas to teach language. We will be using chart paper heavily in my class and having the already sticky chart paper, will cut down on prep time and allow me to use that time for my students.
The doorbell will be used to gain student attention in a fun way! It has fifty-two, different chimes so it can even be reprogrammed every couple of weeks to keep it engaging. It can cut down on interruption time by allowing me to simply click a button, notifying students it is time to clean up while I am still able to work with students.
The floor pillow is an addition to the flexible seating I already have in my room. I want my classroom to be a cozy and inviting place that students truly feel at home. I can visualize students reading, writing and problem solving on the floor pillows.
