I need to continue expanding my Holocaust library. The books requested pertain to new trends and topics with Holocaust education that can apply to various social sciences and social studies.
My students are a diverse group of learners; ranging from 9-12th graders these students whose socioeconomic status ranges greatly, making our school a Title I school.
The culture of our school is gradually changing but has rapidly become a place where students are truly happy to spend their day-- every day!
I feel blessed to work in an environment that is so sensitive to our students' needs. Moreover, I know that I have been enriched by our school and district by having opportunities to better myself and my school.
My students are curious kids. These students want to be in charge of their learning, but require something different from their teachers now. I am trying my best to adapt to the 21st-century classroom. And for me, this means showing students how to be a student.
My Project
It is important to give students the opportunity to see what 'new' ideas are emerging in what no doubt feels like 'old' material. For this reason, I like to update our library within the classroom so that I can be a good model for how to conduct meaningful research. Additionally, since students are so used to digital settings, it is good for them to see and practice the skills involved in 'traditional research' aka reading books.
The materials I am requesting will allow me to provide a survey of new research and topics that will enrich my students, and myself, in the classroom.
