This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first graders are inquisitive and vibrant learners within an urban, high poverty school district. Our school collaborates, empowers, and supports our students to do their very best.
Despite challenges my students may face, each student tries their best to achieve academically and social emotionally.
From the moment students step into the classroom, they are greeted at the door, engaged in their learning, and work hard across all subject areas. We work on having a growth mindset to push past barriers and achieve - never giving up!
My Project
As the holiday season approaches, my students grow interested in the world around them and how others celebrate the holidays. It is important for my students to be exposed to the many different cultures around the world as they become global citizens, even at their young age.
I aim to inspire my students to have a global mindset - exploring and learning about other cultures in order to embrace differences.
We will travel the globe through these picture books, and dive into the world of the many holiday celebrations. With their own passport, students will blend geography, history, reading, and social emotional learning to celebrate the many cultures of the global world. From Mexico to Germany to South Africa and more, I cannot wait for my students to travel the world and gain insight into the different cultures of others.
