Our school is a low-income, Title I community with approximately 300 students of all abilities and levels. We have a high number of students from trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
Making art is something that everyone can be successful in; it helps kids release stress, process their emotions, and have positive outlets for pent-up energy.
Art education is a powerful place to practice SEL (social-emotional learning) along with growth mindset development, especially during this global pandemic.
My Project
Our school community collects toys, food, gifts, winter clothes and so much more for 20+ individual students of high-poverty families in our school. These are families who have requested assistance from our community and may not otherwise get holiday gifts!
Your support would be directly impacting 20 students and give them each their very own art supplies for home.
Many of these children have little in the way of art supplies (perhaps just a pencil and scrap paper). This art kit would give each of them their own high quality sketchbook, easy cleanup paint sticks, markers, and fun rainbow scratch-paper.
