Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The student population here consists of students who are over age and under-credited, but are rededicated, and refocused, and have reinvested in themselves. Many of our students are not exactly financially stable, and the pandemic, as you can imagine, has made things even worse for some of them. As a school, we try our very best to provide a community that supports the our students in many different ways, and we try to meet our students' needs to the best of our ability.
But they are a really good and deserving group of students and that is why I want to do something for them.
My Project
Many of the students in my class have had to take on some major responsibilities at home due to the pandemic. This extra burden has taken a toll on them. Holidays and gift giving are the last things on their minds. Some have to work or take care of younger siblings and miss out on some of the typical teenage experiences.
The holidays are supposed to be a time of cheer and happiness, and what better way to start it off than with a few gifts that I know will have a positive effect on their mental and emotional well being?
I would like the donors choose community to help me make this holiday season an enjoyable one, for a well deserving group of students that really aren't expecting anything. Please help me get them these holiday gifts so that they can have something to feel good about during this tough and trying holiday season.
