This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My gentlemen are smart, hardworking, and brilliant. Our team consists of multi-level players. Our school is a Title I school, meaning that 100% of our students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. Our school is located in a high-poverty neighborhood. My players work very hard every day. Our team has a 98% attendance rate, which means the students rarely miss school. They value our playing time.
Many of my players come from single-parent homes and I am the only male figure they may see a day.
On our team, we blend our traditions to form strong community ties. In addition, approximately 25% of our students are homeless. Although their personal backgrounds put them at a disadvantage they bring their smiles into the classroom every day.
My Project
My baseball team will be using the baseball bats during practice and games, since we are lacking the proper bats. Having these will assist with more individual skills practice, and will protect the student-athletes from causing an injury for not having the proper equipment. It will also help us become more efficient by having all athletes participate at the same time instead of having them stop to share the bats. The baseball bat on this project will help all team members feel secure about the equipment they have in hand.
We are having a hard time keeping our baseball uniforms on our player's waist.
The uniform belts will keep our players in regulation uniform for the game so we will not get a penalty.
