Next school year I am going to continue teaching in the tri-teach model. This model has three teachers; two general education teachers and one special education teacher). All of us will tackle the education of 37 students. The three of us constantly work together to meet the needs of all of our students.
The group we have coming up next year is a vibrant group of kids.
Right now we have 4 standing desks that they absolutely love! I'm looking to add more flexible seating options next year for our high energy group.
Our classes are homes to students on special education plans. Twelve out of the thirty-seven students are on some type of education goal. Despite our great range of ability, each student has done their part to make our rooms caring communities, helping one another and pushing one another to be their best selves.
I am requesting four Hokki stools for my students to use throughout the classroom. These ergonomic stools are designed with a convex base, so students can move around while they are sitting down. This movement provides both physical and mental benefits to the students. While the students are moving, they are more focused on their work. Students can sway and wiggle while sitting in these stools and not disrupt the other students. I've already seen huge success with standing desks, so I'd like to offer more options for our active students.
The funding of this project will make a huge difference in my classroom.
Students will be able to move while sitting in these stools, which will help to keep them actively engaged in their work.
