My Students

Hi there! I am blessed to teach what I love at a tiny public school in rural North Carolina. My students are talented, driven, creative critical thinkers who persevere despite the lack of opportunity that surrounds them. I teach in a high poverty school, but that doesn't make my students poor. The love of our staff, the support of their community, and the life experiences they carry with them provide a rich source of background knowledge that feeds the narrative of our classroom each day.

My Project

We hope to use two Smart TVs to condense the day-to-day academic vocabulary, concepts, expectations, and general announcements to the front of the room where students who traditionally struggle to find information around the room can easily access the tools they need to succeed at our school.

We live in a world of anchor charts - many, many, anchor charts.

As helpful as they are for our students, they can be overwhelming to navigate for our exceptional students, and overstimulated visual learners.

This 21st century concept will help minimize student distractions, and focus attention back to the front of the room for many students who struggle with traditional anchor charts, organization, and attention span.
