My Students

My school is located in a high-crime, low-income area. 100% of our students qualify for the free lunch program. My school is a full inclusion school so we have students with various kinds of special needs, including social/emotional. Students at my school are a very diverse group and in spite of the challenges they face at home, they are very resilient. During these unprecedented times, my students show up on Zoom every day eager to learn.

My students have a wide range of academic skills.

Many students require extra support and practice in order to grasp key concepts, yet they are willing to work hard and persevere.

My Project

During my zoom sessions with my students I have witnessed first hand how difficult it is for my students to find a quiet space to work. They are doing the best they can during these challenging times.

Most of my students live in multi-generational homes, which are filled with constant activity.

As much as my students try to stay focused during our Zoom classes, they are often challenged by background activity and noise. My students need these headphones to block out the noise so they can instead focus on learning!
