Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students of our school come from all walks of life. We have students who are foster kids and students who only have one parent. A lot of the time our students get home from school with no one home and by the time they wake up their parents have already left for work. The students we work with care about school and strive to do the best that they can. They all have potential to be great.
Our students are from a Title I school in an urban area.
100% of the school population is receiving free or reduced lunch. The school's population has increased so much that our school now has 6 portables.
My Project
Due to increasing populations in Lehigh Acres, HMMS added six external modular classrooms to the building to accommodate the increasing size of the student population. The six teachers that were hand-picked to take on this endeavour truly want to see the students strive to achieve greatness.
With the portables being an external extension of the main school building, the students have to leave our classrooms in order to use the facilities and lose a considerable amount of learning time when doing so.
We feel, with this project, we can decrease the amount of time students are out of the classroom for non-education purposes.
We are asking for help with this project in order to provide a water dispenser in each of the 6 classrooms so that the students can stay hydrated while they are with us in the portables.
