My students are from a low socioeconomic background. They do not always have the same enthusiasm for school as others do.
We strive to give the students experiences that are out of the norm in order to engage their minds and enhance their learning.
One way we do this is by prepping the classroom and its materials.
Materials for the classroom are very hard to come by. The best classrooms have materials that can excite a student into wanting to learn.
My Project
The students at my school are used to the standard desk and chair routine. I want to spice things up in the classroom with some new seating such as pillows, bean bags, and balance balls. I have been researching flexible seating for a while now, but have been too nervous to try it. I decided to just dive right in and get started!
I have seen in other classrooms that use flexible seating that students are more engaged in their learning!
Flexible seating seems to be the way to go for better student engagement. I am excited to try this in my classroom. The students are excited to be able to sit in "cool" seats instead of "classroom chairs."
