My students need two wireless doorbells, balance discs and Sit Spots to help give them a defined spot to sit during carpet time and other activities.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
Our classroom is an interactive, cooperative place where all students feel safe and challenged. Our class is made up of 22 students from contrasting socioeconomic backgrounds, including English Language Learners, Gifted and Talented students and special needs students. We have created a family environment where students feel safe and loved. My goal is for all students to learn to love learning and become lifelong learners.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela
As a school, we are collaboratively nurturing each child's potential to be a producer of knowledge, a contributor of citizenship, and a discoverer of possibilities. We love to use hands-on activities to develop these young learners who are eager to learn.
Our community was affected by Hurricane Harvey at the beginning of this school year, and we were forced to miss over a week of school. Most students had never experienced an event like that and came back to school with lots of questions and concerns. Some families had to relocate or support relatives who had been displaced. Luckily, the students were resilient and were able to bounce right back into our learning!
The Sit Spots will give the students a visual spot when coming to our carpet time and other activities. They will know where they are expected to sit which can create more engagement and time on task. The magnetic dry erase boards and letters will give my students hands-on materials that will be used during our small group instruction. They will allow the students to manipulate letters in order to create new words as well as their sight words. Having their own set of materials in order to engage their brains during small groups will be a powerful tool for my students.
