Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How many times do we hear our students say that history is boring? Why does learning history need to be boring? I strive each and every day to inspire my students to want to know more about history!
My students attend an inner city middle school in Southern California.
80% are English Language Learners. There are approximately 530 students attending and the staff consists of 25 teachers. Most students come from lower income families; many are being raised by single parents and several are in foster homes. The school has 100% participation in the breakfast/lunch program provided by the Federal Government. Scores for state testing (CST) are below the state average but steadily rising.
My Project
My students final project this year is to create a diorama based off something they learned in history this school year. With the filament my students will be able to create pieces for their diorama. Lastly, the tablets will be used to research the scene they are depicting.
Help them make those lasting memories of middle school be about having fun while learning about the past.
I'd love your help to make history fun and interactive for my students. My project is important because my students aspire to do well in school. They desire to dream big and have others believe in them along the way. I want to give students the same experience I was able to get when I was in school, and I hope you do too.
