My Students
Do you remember getting completely sucked into an awesome book as a young reader, feeling yourself getting transported to another place and time as you sped through the pages of a story? I know I do.
My students are curious and insightful young people.
They are capable of making significant connections to characters in stories, especially when given the very best books, ones that make them excited to read and eager to share their thoughts with their peers and teachers.
My Project
The requested books will allow my students to be immersed in various time periods in American and world history. They will meet characters living through the American Revolution, the Civil War, World War II, Civil Rights, the Great Depression, the Cold War, and more.
Through the experiences of the characters in these books, my students will be able to make the kinds of connections necessary to understand that the human experience is one that unites people across time periods.
They will develop empathy for those have come before us by connecting the experiences of the past with those of today.
