Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My multi-ethnic students work as hard as they can without tools other students have: many races, male and female, many religions, all teenagers. History tells us that the young will continue the republic.
We need to emphasize the Constitution and the Bill of Rights with every child who passes through my classroom.
Citizen, immigrant, legal or illegal--every one of my students has a right to an excellent education, as far as I can offer it to them, but I need your help!
My Project
Three years ago, our librarian threw out the entire history library of VHS tapes for our school. There were over 200 tapes, and our library now needs to be rebuilt. I am one of those people who learns by seeing. In my classroom, I use inquiry and original source research to get my students to understand and synthesize historical knowledge.
English language learners and students with disabilities learn better when they see and hear a story; this new library will be built upon for the next 10 years and will be a resource for the entire history department in our school.
