My Students

I have a classroom filled with some amazing 6th graders. Our school is a very small school in a rural setting in Platte, SD. Despite this fact, we continue to be one of the top-performing schools in the state. Our students enjoy school and learning. My classroom library and books are also available to any of the middle school students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

My students strive to do well and have fun learning all at the same time.

They continue to have good attitudes and want to be at school, and we try and provide a fun learning atmosphere for the students.

My Project

Throughout the year we learn about different genres of books and how we can use those different genres to learn. We talk about how we can learn different things from each genre and how important they are.

With these historical fiction books, my students will be able to gain an understanding of things that happened in the past and how they affected the people who lived through them.

Having choices of historical fiction books is always important to my students because by giving them the choice of the book they want to read they are more excited about what we are doing and reading. It gives them ownership over their learning.
