My students need an IPad pro with pencil and keyboard to create a living history for our school's 100th anniversary.
This project expired on May 23, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students live in a city tagged as one of the most violent cities in the United States. They have suffered a majority of the Adverse Experiences of Childhood including: incarcerated family members, neglect, abuse, divorce, food insecurity, and unsafe neighborhoods. They arrive to school each day carrying their fears and traumas with them. Yet despite these challenges my students are eager to learn!
Our students have goals and they have pride; we are helping them manifest excellence!
They need a chance to experience life as a typical child and we are providing that within the walls of our school by engaging our students and their families in collaborative activities.
Our students will create a living history of our neighborhood and school as we celebrate 100 years of education and life. In the style of Humans of New York we will utilize the iPad Pro and accessories to collect interviews of neighbors, community members, educators, and friends who have been part of the Yorkship Community through the years.
Students will develop technology and literacy skills by: preparing and conducting interviews, videotaping and editing, as well as presenting their work at the 100 year celebration.
The collected experiences will document how our community was founded, changed and is continuing to grow through the years.
