My students are diverse in not only their background but their personality. I teach at a Title 1 school therefor most of my students come from low-income or poverty level families. While this doesn't define the students it does make them who they are. My students range from 1-2 grade levels below to a few above grade level with some students on grade level in the middle. No matter their ability they always work hard and give 100% in what they do. As their teacher, I want to give them 100% as well, not all my students have access to academic help at home. Several of my students are sharing one computer with their siblings and/or parents or are having to do paper packets due to no internet or computer access. I want my students to be successful during this time of change.
My Project
Distance learning is so different from a regular school environment. I miss my students! And we're all suffering from WAY too much screen time! I would like to supply them with some non-screen activities they can do during this time, and over the summer. My students love this series and learn so much about history without even realizing!
I know my students will love this new addition to our distance learning meetings.
I intend to us these new books as read alouds and to aid in projects. Every year I have the students pick a person or place and have them teach the class about their topic. These new books will let them read about our history to do so. I also hope this will entice them to want to read and learn even more! I can't wait to see what book they choose and they project they create.
