My students need 4 social studies independent project centers, 2 libraries of biographical books, 1 historical read-along CD set, 1 CD set of read-along biographies, and 1 set of government photo series books.
Alabama, it's time for a change! I am the fourth grade history teacher in a high-need, low socioeconomic K-8 school. The area is extremely rural, and my students have a clean slate to begin to learn history! They have very little historical background that I deem necessary for future success! I am adamant on making this much needed change!
History continues to be an area of difficulty for students throughout our school. Unfortunately supplies and materials are inadequate, and such a misfortune creates an obstacle for me to create exciting learning opportunities in history class! My students hunger for knowledge, and the funding is just not available for such materials. I desire for them to love history as I do!
I have proposed a number of supplies I believe necessary for student success in history--a variety of biographical libraries, independent learning centers, and CD read-alongs in both non-fiction and biography areas. I can confidently declare these ready resources for my classroom would provide excellent learning opportunities on the historical front! These materials will be used in conjunction with class discussions, group interactions, and Internet research. Such viable opportunities are vital in creating a learning environment conducive to learning historical concepts.
Your donation would further assist me in "making a change" concerning historical and political knowledge of rural Alabama students. This large group of low-socioeconomic children will greatly benefit from your assistance. You will instill in them the love of learning and a desire to broaden their historical knowledge base!
