Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are all 8th grade U.S. History students who primarily come from the south bay area of Los Angeles. Though their skill level and cultural backgrounds vary, they always strive to do their best in and out of school.
My students are eager to learn more about history, how our government works and how we as citizens can make a positive impact in our community by practicing our civic duties.
Our current unit of study focuses on the founding of the U.S. and how our constitution came about and what that means for all of us as Americans. Our class discussions have sparked some sort of light bulb with my students and they have become more and more intrigued and motivated to learn about U.S. History.
My Project
A generous individual was kind enough to donate a new fully functioning printer to our classroom for student use. But because of the high number students needing to print out assignments, we are in need of ink in order to keep up. My classroom also consists of students who require specific accommodations and need notes and worksheets printed. Also, our school population has expanded this year, increasing the demand for copies of worksheets and lesson material.
With these resources, it will make it easier for my students to print their assignments and worksheets in our classroom.
My students come from a low to middle income community of Los Angeles, CA. Most of my students have financial hardships, therefore, they do not have the supplies at home that will enable them to print assignments. With a steady supply of ink, my students and I will no longer need to worry about having enough resources for everyone to use.
