Students come to my classroom and have the opportunity to be completely immersed in the study of their world by becoming historians.
My students are eager to achieve and do their best having to engage in distance learning has left many spending hours on their computers and devices.
They crave for in person instruction. My students are hard workers and they have the opportunity to change the world. I want their experiences in the classroom to allow them to access and experience learning in diverse and meaningful ways so they can achieve what I know they are so very capable of. They need to make connections across the curriculum and use those connections to help them make sense of the world we live in today. I know that studying history can make those connections a reality for my students.
In my class students have the ability to learn from each other and share their own personal experiences which helps them become better citizens. Through this process, they learn more and understand more about the world and those they share it with.
Students have spend hours on their devices, so they could continue their education through distance learning. Now more than ever students need books in their hands that they can read and discuss face to face with other students.
Bringing books into the classroom will allow them to turn off their screens and been engaged in learning history as they follow along using the graphic novels to open their eyes to the history of China.
The graphic novels will be used in the classroom in a workshop setting where they will be used as an extension of student's learning history through literature.
