My students need 3 Wobble Chairs. These chairs create a constant wobble which engages muscles and encourages active sitting. These are perfect for active first graders who need to move while they learn.
My students enjoy coming to school. They care about their classmates and have fun with each other. These children work hard on their reading skills and want to grow as readers. They are so proud when they can complete a leveled reader independently.
I love to hear them say, "Can I read this to you?"
The Third Grade Reading Law, which is now in effect, means that schools are working harder to prepare students. We are spending more time practicing reading skills. First graders have a lot of energy and need to move quite a bit. We incorporate Go Noodle movement activities frequently, but we could also use additional resources.
My Project
Kids need to move! They often have a hard time sitting still because they have extra energy. I want to help them focus and move at the same time. I would love to have these three Wobble Chairs in my classroom to help the children attend to their learning. I have copied some facts about these chairs and how helpful they can be for kids and teachers alike.
"The littlest kids are even more wiggly because their sensory systems are still developing.
Some kids need more movement than others. And for some kids with a sensory processing disorder or ADHD, being in motion allows their brains to be engaged. That's where ball chairs come in. In response to the ball's instability and in order to remain balanced while sitting on one, the body instinctively — and continually — engages core muscle groups. Constant movement is required in order to stay seated on the ball. And that movement, however slight, helps them focus." Diana Henry
Wobble Chairs are the perfect solution for a first grade classroom. My students will be able to sit and read or complete their work while quietly moving. This movement is also helping them to focus more. I am so excited to use these chairs. We do take frequent movement breaks, but many children still have trouble sitting and concentrating. I know these chairs will really benefit them!
