I teach kindergarten in a school in North Carolina. Our school is very diverse. We serve students of various socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, as well as, levels of academic achievement. We are a Title I school, where all of our children receive free lunch and breakfast.
My greatest hope is to prepare these children for the future in the most developmentally appropriate way that I can.
Their home lives can be very difficult. They do not have all of the resources that other families have, as they are just trying to take care of their basic needs. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a loving and caring environment for our children to give them everything they need, not just academics.
We love to sing and dance, create works of art, and really enjoy being outside in the Carolina sun! We also love to try new things and be challenged by those new things.
My Project
My students deserve play-based learning experiences in our kindergarten classroom. Studies have proven that children learn best through play. I would like to be able to do this with the help of your donations toward a farm stand that can be used throughout the school year.
The children will use this farm stand to develop literacy, math, social, and real world skills.
We will use it throughout the year and add materials to support our science and social studies themes. It will also develop the social skills of children who did not have much social interaction with their peers due to COVID 19.
