My Students

I teach 6th grade students in a rural community. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some students come from very supportive families while other students do not get to see their parents due to work schedules or a variety of other reasons. We also have a growing population of bilingual students.

I love how in many ways my students are still babies wanting to learn.

yet so wise in many ways.

My Project

Let's face it, middle school is hard. Sixth graders are coming to middle school with so many concerns, fears, and expectations. They are no longer babies but they don't understand how middle school really works.

I want to use the book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey, to help my students prepare to have a more productive middle school career as well in their personal lives.

This book will also help my students to become better leaders in life. We will learn ways to handle conflict as well as just becoming better listeners.

And isn't that something we need in this world?
