My Students

My classroom contains diverse people, as well as diverse learners. I have many military students, who may change throughout the year depending on deployment schedules. We also have a variety of local children, of which special needs students are included. We also have a high population of low-income students who may be growing up in a single parent household or being raised by grandparents.

No matter what a student's situation is, I enjoy working and learning with them each day.

My students are funny, smart, artistic, musical, you name it. By the end of the year we are truly a family.

My Project

These materials will be very helpful in the lives of my students. First of all, the highlighters are used almost daily to highlight textual evidence, which supports how students answer their questions. As students read the material, they must highlight the information used to answer the question and then they have their proof. The Post-it notes are used to help students who may have trouble learning their material. They use them to write down any weak areas. For example, when we take our "Map Mondays" (map quizzes), Post-it notes are used for students to write down any countries or physical features that they missed. They then have a focus when studying the map and will do better on the next map quiz. Post-it notes are also used to organize students into different learning groups.

Post-it easel pads are used to help students showcase their knowledge of the material, usually in end of unit projects.

We have done projects on the religions of the Middle East, American involvement in the Middle East, as well as pollution problems in China and India. The large posters are also used to showcase our social contracts in the classroom.

Helping my students by supplying these materials really makes a huge impact in the quality of their education. Students have shown large increases in their understanding of geography, economics, and history due to the use of the materials provided. They grow more confident as a result and become well-rounded students. The other materials listed help me as a teacher in many ways. I must have the Canon ink cartridges for my printer and copy paper for the students' assignments. Electric pencil sharpeners are also very helpful in keeping those pencils learning ready!

Being able to have these supplies would be a huge blessing for my classes.
