Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Special Education Inclusion teacher, and I service students from Kindergarten through 4th Grade. My students all differ in their disabilities. I have students with learning disabilities, Dyslexia, ADHD, Intellectual Disability, and Emotional Disturbance.
My classroom is a fun learning environment where I can give individualized support to each of my students.
I group my students based on their needs, and we work in small groups daily to focus on those needs. With your help, I am excited to provide them with resources to make their time with me fun, but also a productive learning environment.
My Project
As a Special Education teacher I have a lot of students with ADHD and other learning disabilities. Students who lack focus and attention often get bored sitting in a chair and tend to drift off. With flexible seating, the students are much more engaged and eager to learn.
I want my classroom to be somewhere that my Special Education students look forward to coming every day!
I have asked for Balance Ball Seats, because I want them to know that they will have fun learning when they are with me. I believe that something as simple as a fun chair to sit in will make their learning environment exponentially more enjoyable!
Additionally, in my classroom we use a computer program specifically geared towards students with learning disabilities. The program requires headphones with a microphone so that they can hear themselves reading. Therefore, I have asked for 10 headphones so that my students are able to get the most use out of the program. I have also requested the Phonics and Language Skills Library and the Reading Comprehension Folder Library Game. These resources will help build phonics and comprehension skills while engaging the students. With your support, my classroom will become the fun learning environment that I strive to have, and the place my students will be excited to visit everyday!
